A ex-Citrix Technology Professional since 2013 and a TOGAF-certified Enterprise Architect, and more recently a Microsoft MVP, Neil has accumulated enough acronyms to make a network diagram look concise. Enterprises spent years and significant capital building sophisticated EUC and VDI estates. As remote-work patterns normalized, SaaS adoption accelerated, renewal pressures increased, and alternative application and desktop delivery models matured, many organizations began to reassess the long-term strategic role of those environments.
Agentic AI should force organizations to reassess the value of their existing EUC platforms and the role those platforms can play in the controlled integration of autonomous agents into the enterprise.
This does not remove the need to modernize authentication, migrate appropriate services out of legacy data centers, improve data governance, or address technical debt. In fact, agentic AI makes those modernization efforts more important. But many of the architectural and operational principles required to run EUC well controlled execution, identity-based access, application entitlement, isolation, policy enforcement, observability, lifecycle management, and operational accountability closely resemble the disciplines enterprises will need when introducing autonomous software.
At the same time, the EUC ecosystem itself is evolving. Agent identities, managed execution environments, Conditional Access for agents, MCP gateways, Cloud PCs for agents, and AI-specific policy controls are beginning to blur the line between the traditional user workspace and a governed execution environment for software actors.
This session explores whether mature EUC architecture can provide a practical starting point for secure agentic AI adoption. We will examine what translates well, what does not, and what still needs to be modernized before agents can be introduced safely at enterprise scale.
Attendees will leave with an understanding of how agentic AI changes familiar EUC assumptions around identity, execution, applications, data, and trust. IaC for on-premises CVAD: build it, shape it, keep it running
This session walks through the full lifecycle of an on-premises CVAD site, run entirely from code: an unattended install, its base configuration, and then a daily desired state run that corrects drift before anyone notices. A monthly pipeline replaces every certificate in the environment, server certificates included, and a set of health checks repairs what it finds broken instead of only reporting it. None of it goes through Studio.

The architecture looks sound. The policies are documented. Day to day, application sprawl, accumulated privileges and years of exceptions tell a different story. What happens when user-facing AI - and eventually autonomous agents – inherits (hopefully, not exploits) that environment?
Drawing on experience across large government, healthcare and financial organizations, this session examines the gap between formal controls and operational reality. We’ll explore how organizational inefficiencies, competing priorities and politics allow workarounds to become permanent dependencies, leaving users and endpoints less ready for AI than the diagrams suggest.
Getting ready starts with the basics: knowing what’s running, who owns it, what it can access and how those boundaries are enforced. We’ll discuss practical steps toward bringing existing EUC environments into line with their intended controls, including sound identity and privilege management, application governance and endpoint discipline, before AI compounds the flaws already there.

Confidence, Not Dashboards: What Genealogy Taught Me About AI Observability
When I started tracing my family tree, an online record confidently placed my great-grandmother in Bad Langensalza. The primary sources said Bad Homburg. A trusted-looking source had hallucinated - and untangling it took archives, church books, and a lot of cross-checking to decide which claim deserved confidence. That is exactly the discipline AI observability demands. As AI grows from autocomplete into agents that act on our behalf, "the model said so" is no longer a source. We need provenance - where did this answer come from? We need confidence - how sure are we, and what would change our mind? We need negative results - what did we rule out, and why? In this session I'll use a real family mystery as the narrative spine and map every genealogy method - citing primary sources, rating confidence, disproving false positives, respecting data-access rules - onto the AI observability toolkit you'll need in production. You'll leave seeing observability not as another dashboard, but as the practice of knowing how much to trust each claim your system makes. No Kirchenbuch required - just the question genealogists have asked for centuries: where does that come from?
